P2W server?

Is the Server Pay-to-Win?

Please read all before jumping to conclusions.

What is Pay-to-Win (P2W)?

Pay-to-Win, or P2W, is when players can pay real money to get special advantages in a game that make it easier to win against others. This usually means that players who spend money have an edge over players who don’t. In games like Valorant, Overwatch, or Call of Duty, if players could buy stronger weapons, it would be unfair to those who can’t buy them. This creates an uneven playing field, as paying players would have an advantage.

On the other hand, some games like Genshin Impact don’t count as P2W because they don’t have a “winning” condition or competition between players. Even though players can buy items, it doesn’t affect others since players aren’t competing directly.

How This Applies to Our Server

Our Minecraft server follows similar principles to keep the game fair. In competitive game modes like Bedwars and KitPvP, we do not sell items that would give players a gameplay advantage, like extra health, better gear, or head starts. Doing so would make these game modes Pay-to-Win because it would give paying players an unfair advantage.

However, we do allow selling purely visual items, like cosmetics (special skins, effects, or pets), because these don’t impact gameplay or give any advantage.

For our more relaxed, non-competitive game modes like Survival, Classic, and Skyblock, the rules are different. In these modes, there isn’t a goal to “win.” Instead, players are focused on building, crafting, and enjoying the game at their own pace. So, in these modes, it’s acceptable to sell items like crate keys, ranks, or kits because they don’t make anyone “win” over others—they simply enhance each player’s own experience.

Conclusion

Our server is not Pay-to-Win. We aim to keep the competitive parts of our server fair for everyone, and our approach is in line with Mojang’s guidelines.
